Trent D asked:

The axle/differential assembly was installed in my 87 Mustang GT but is out of a newer Mustang. It has 5 lug axles and disc brakes. The differential tag reads:
S2296
3L27 88 OD29
I need to get new rotors and a new brake caliper.

Call the dealer, they can look it up. 8.8 with a limited slip 3.27 ratio is all I can tell, but the other code should tell the parts department what you need.

Rear Differential Tag

The differential tag contains two rows of numbers. Here’s
a breakdown of the numbers.

S = Sterling differential
229 = Model number
6 = Revision identifier

3 27 = 3:27 Gear ratio. If it was limited slip, the number would contain the letter L, as in 3L27.
88 = Ring gear size. 8.8 inches.
0D29 = Build date
0 = Last digit in year of manufacture. In this case, 2000
D = Month of manufacture. A=January, B=February, C=March, etc.
29 = Day of manufacture
