When I start up my Mustang after it’s been sitting, the engine makes a ticking or clicking sound that comes from the drivers side of the engine. It goes away after about a minute or two of ideling or sooner if I rev the engine. It’s a 3.8 V6. Is this a potentaly serious problem or is it normal?

I’ve recently busted the oil pan on my ford mustang driving over a curb. The Haynes repair manual dictates to remove the engine and transmission when replacing it. Is that necessary or is there any easier way to fix it.

It’s a V6 with manual transmission.
