What do i need to do if my v6 mustang wastes a lot of gas for an unknown reason?

i think my mustang wastes to much gas, because in like a day and a half. its already in half tank. Does it mean anything when i fill it up and after its all set and done it smells like gas inside the car. Might it be leeking gas?
