Throughout the years Ford has been able to build truly magnificent Mustang models. When they were first created the younger generation at the time saw the potential that it had and loved not only the power it possessed - but also the look and feel of it. That same engineering and design has only improved over the years.

The new 2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt is no exception to it. If anything it only improves upon the design and adds new features that will help to make it that much more appealing. The 2008 Bullitt commemorates the classic Steve McQueen film. But Ford never makes their Mustangs in small numbers. There are a few other models that have been added to the 2008 model line-up.

Standing next to the Bullitt is the 2008 GT500KR. This is probably Ford’s most powerful Mustang ever to be built. Excited? I know I am! Power is something that we all crave in a car no matter how small or big it might be. And that is what Muscle cars are all about. Without power they would just be another economy car that we drive to work and listen to the radio in. Instead we are proud of each and every powerful Mustang!

As is custom these models are available in convertibles and coupes and come equipped with either the V6 or V8 engines in the Premium or Deluxe trims. The base version are built with 4.0 liter V engines that have the ability to push out 210 horsepower.

We have saved the best model for last. The Shelby GT500 has returned and it brings a supercharged 5.4 liter V8 engine - which pushes out a whopping 500 horsepower! As for the Bullitt it is built with a 4.6 liter V8 engine that can push out 315 horsepower and is only available with the 5 speed manual transmission. The GT500 is also only available in manual transmission. The other base models are available with automatic or manual transmission.

Ford has made the Shelby GT500KR a limited edition coupe - which means if you really want it then you better get your hands on it fast before they are all taken. It is built with a 5.4 liter supercharged V8 engine that has the ability to push out 319 horsepower. When it comes to safety the engineers at Ford have equipped it with front side airbags, ABS, and traction control.

There are many trims and appearance packages that are available depending on what model you choose. This includes their famous and most notable “Warriors in Pink” edition. Much of the proceeds from this model package go to ****** cancer research.

Airaid was established in 1997 when it began building and developing systems for light trucks and SUV’s. It only took five years for the company to fully establish it’s self and became one of the Mustang Intake leaders. In the late 90’s many companies came out with different types of cold air intakes but Airaid has strived to stay on top with their constant research and drive to find a better way. Airiad founders are committed to producing better quality filters utilizing new technology and state of the art materials. The way an Airaid Intake works is by shortening the distance the air has to travel. Airaid has also smoothed out the inside of the intake tube to decrease the amount of obstacles that slow down the air flow. By feeding your engine more air, you’ll bring out the true potential of your Mustang. The air flow can be increased by as much as 20%, your power (about 20 hp), more torque (up to 20ft-lbs) and often better fuel economy (1-2 mpg, depending on conservative driving). The Airaid Intake tube is a beefy 4″ which is the largest on the market, one more reason why the Air Intake gets more air to your engine. The Airaid premium filters are made up of multiple layers of cotton gauze with a layer of a synthetic fiber called SynthaFlow, in between a layer of either an aluminum mesh or a stainless steel mesh. SynthaFlow is a synthetic fiber that traps the smallest dirt particles that ordinary gauze performance filters can’t capture. The intake housing or casing is made up of urethane, which helps with the durability and performance of your Airaid Intake system. The urethane casing helps prevent cracks and won’t shrink from too much heat exposure. With an Airaid Intake you will be dramatically increasing the air flow to your engine which gives impressive gains in horsepower and torque. They are custom fit for your specific model and year of Mustang. The filter that is included with your Airaid Intake kit is completely washable and reusable and lasts the life of your vehicle. Airiad Intakes are available in two different designs. It will replace the whole factory intake tube and air box. It makes for an easy installation that can be done with ordinary tools and there isn’t any drilling required. The Airaid Intake is also street legal in all 50 states and is backed by a lifetime warranty.

Gregg Hall asked:

Ford was smart to introduce its new Mustang and it was a good year for the 2005 Ford Mustang that made good sales in the sports car venue. The new Mustang GT, which came with V-8 power, started its pricing at $24,995 with a 300-hp motor. Even though this was the only car with a stock 300hp motor in its class any import tuner can put down more power then any mustang.

Perhaps one of the best selling and most notorious models of the Mustang is the V-6 model. The car is at almost 20 grand and comes with a V-6 motor. Ford has always given what the consumer wants but also hasn’t given anything turbo charged yet that I have seen. Hopefully this new Mustang can give drivers what they are looking for in a car and if not they can resort to tuners which are and can be the best of the best. Here are some of the many details about the new Mustang that you won’t see anywhere else.

It has 16-inch aluminum rims that are cast, the rims are painted to give it flair and show some diversity. It gives you four disk power brakes with all season type of tire but you can change them and get better tires which is recommended . It has huge rotors and calipers to handle the speed that the car will be slowing down from at some points during ownership. Still, you can get upgrades such as a BREMBO big brake kit.

Air-conditioning goes stock with the car and it also comes stock with a rear window defroster as well. Dual power locks and windows come stock in the new mustang.

The new Mustang comes with a 210-horse power motor that makes 4.0 liter SOHC V-6 engine. Probably produces around 200 feet pounds of torque. Also comes stock with a 5 speed manual transmission also can be bought in automatic with electronic overdrive.

More features come stock like power windows, power locks, key less entry, rear wheel drive so it can be used to drift if you want, leather depending on package. There are many features to the new mustang.

Ford also provides the system in which if involved in an accident the air bags will automatically deploy to try and save your life. The buyer or owner can add anything they wish to the car to make it unique. It is advised that you customize the car and make it the way you want it.

Even though there is the Mustang there are many other cars that are beyond what the Mustang can give you. The Supra is a good one, 240sx with a swapped motor is a good one there are a number of cars that you can buy to compensate with a mustang. Like the Nissan Skyline comes with a rb26dett stock and produces over 270 horse power stock and over 280 feet pounds of torque without any upgrades.

K&N has been a leader in the filter industry since they were founded over 36 years ago and starting back in 1992 they decided to test the waters of the Mustang Intakes world. At K&N they feel that the best bang for your buck or dollar to horsepower investment can be found in their intake systems. Built for horsepower they boast that if they can’t boost a cars horsepower they do not make an intake for it. With a promise like that you know that your Mustangs Performance will be increased. They increase the horsepower starting with their million mile warranted filter system and high flow technology. The K&N Mustang Intake is also legal in all 50 states so it doesn’t matter where you live, you can improve your Mustang Performance. K&N Mustang Intakes have some very impressive numbers. For example the 2003 Ford Mustang SVT boasts of an impressive 30 HP. Many times the exact same vehicle will perform differently than another. When K&N uses a number for HP it is an average of runs and not the biggest gain they have obtained. When buying and researching if it says you will get 10 HP that is the bare minimum you may actually get more out of you K&N Mustang Intake. The size of your air box is one of the main reasons that K&N Mustang Intakes are so consistent with their increase in HP. Believe it or not they completely remove the air box, meaning there really aren’t any restrictions on how much air is moved to your engine other than physics. They use a large conical open element air filter, which provides more surface or intake space to maximize airflow. And we all know that maximized air flow translated into more HP. This oversized air filter catches more dirt so you don’t have clean the filter as often. And you will never have to replace the filter because of their 1,000,000 warranty. The next area of improvement is in the design of the air path or High Density Polyethylene tubes which are black and for those of you wanting a silver colored tube they do have aluminum. If you are looking for more power then go with the black Polyethylene but if you are all about the looks definitely go with the Aluminum. Either way you will have high gains from any of the K&N Mustang intakes.

If you are looking to upgrade you Ford Mustang where do you start? Mustang performance parts can be dated back to the sixties. There are so many options that one who isn’t an expert couldn’t possibly know where to start. Questions you may ask yourself may be. What will give me the most power? What will make my car look the best? And then there is the ever-dreaded question, gas mileage. What will increase my gas mileage the most?

What will give you the most power? With more power you are setting yourself up for more fun and having a better day all together. If there ever is a bad day at work just jump in the stang and let the power put a smile on your face. Three ways to boost your power quickly are: performance chips, air intake systems and a new exhaust system. Mustang chips and mustang air intakes are definitely the easiest and most cost efficient way to increase your power. Also exhaust systems are a great way to increase the horses but your pocket will have to be a little deeper. Either way you can’t go wrong.

What will make my car unique, better than all the rest? The body of your mustang is like a teenage girl getting ready for her first day of high school. Everything has to be perfect, waking up at 5:00 in the morning just to get ready to impress. She has to put her hair up, try to make her eyes as noticeable as possible, and even dress her body up to flatter all the teenage boys. You don’t have to wake up early in the morning and by all means you better not be trying to flatter the teenage boys but your mustang should impress all those who have the privilege to see. It can be what ever you want it to be. There are so many parts and accessories that really it is up to you. Your mustang can become your very own masterpiece. From hood scoops, quarter window louver all the way back to the spoiler you can even get racing stripes if isn’t enough with just the body kits. Really if you don’t like anything on the stock body of your mustang you can probably find something to replace it. If you really wanted you could change the whole body and that would make your mustang look different from all the rest of these ponies on the road.

What is going to give the best gas mileage? Once again we turn back to the mustang chips and intakes for better gas mileage. Although they will not be dramatic increases over time they will pay for themselves. Which means more money in your pocket. And who can’t use a little bit more of that? Both the mustang chip and mustang air intakes can be installed in under 40 minutes. 10 minutes for the chips and 25-30 minutes for the intakes. The installation of a performance chip is practically fool proof. If you can read you can install a mustang performance chip. Saving you time and money.

Daniel Stephens asked:

When I was in high school I had a friend put a K&N air filter in his car and all that we knew about it was that it made that car go faster off the line and boosted the top speed as well. After a little research I have learned that not only was it a fun product for us but it was also one of the best economical decisions he made for his vehicle. A K&N Mustang Filter improves mustang performance in more ways than a high school kid’s dream of going faster. My best definition of Mustang performance is more horsepower, improving gas mileage and low maintenance. K&N Mustang intakes take care of all of those needs.

Let’s talk about a K&N Mustang intake improving your horsepower. Making your car breathe easier is the key to improving the amount of power your Mustang can put out. Your engine runs by combusting a mixture of fuel and air with a carefully timed spark. So in part, the more air your engine can take in the more horsepower ends up coming out. K&N Intakes come with a high flow cone filter which has far more surface area to take air in through than a stock air filter does. Also increased air intake will improve the throttle response. That improved throttle response is what I was talking about when we were in high school, a very fun element to the K&N Mustang intake.

Improving gas mileage is everyones dream now that gas prices are sky high. The K&N Mustang intake boasts up to a 10% percent on your MPG’s. They improve the air flow to the engine by using high flow cotton air filters. Your engine needs to breath and just like improving horsepower with more air the same can be said for fuel economy. The easier your engine breathes the less it has to work which means less gas being guzzled and every last bit of power being extracted from the fuel being used. Oh thank heaven for…better gas mileage.

The final section of the K&N Mustang Performance is the low maintenance factor. While replacing a factory air filter can take too much time finding the right one a K&N Mustang Filter replaces the factory filter and never has to be replaced. They come with a limited 1,000,000 mile warranty. Cleaning is as simple as taking the filter out and washing and re oiling it, letting it dry, and then putting it back in. They still have to be cleaned as often as a stock filter has to be replaced, but you can do it at home when you have the time to, and again, they never need to be replaced.

Jorge Gurza asked:

As far as the consumer is concerned, the history of the great Ford Mustang began when it was shown to the public at New York’s World Exhibition. The prototypes had been in existence since 1962, with the Mustang 1 (T-5) being first introduced to the motor racing world at the Watkins Glen Grand Prix where Stirling Moss and Dan Gurney drove it for a few laps each as a demo.

In the early 1960s, Ford desperately needed a new car to compete with the sporty Chevrolet Corsair Monza, and its first attempt, the Falcon Future, failed to compete. A brand new car was needed, and the idea for the Mustang was born. It was sporty and quick and a four seater. It was appealing to youngsters, and the prototype was well received when shown at the motor racing circuits.

It went in production in 1964, and was an instant hit. Its launch on 17th April, 1964 was the beginning of what was to be the most popular car ever in American history, and it sold half a million in its first year. Its customers included every age and it was equally popular to men and women.

Many of its parts were taken from the failed Falcon, and its immediate success had as much to do with the almost perfect advertising campaign as it had to do with looks and speed. The advertising power of the three major television networks was used extensively, and with its distinctive mane and tail galloping across the red, white and blue of America the ‘Pony Car’ was the phenomenon of its age, representing the flavor of the 1960s more perfectly than its designers could ever have dreamt possible.

It was a car of its day that arrived with perfect timing. Later to be called the 1964 1/2, the original Mustang was available as a convertible and as a coupe, both with chrome wrap-around fenders, the distinctive chrome grill with running pony, and a lengthened hood. Although it claimed to have four seats, the back seat was a bit small and it also sported three tails lights on each side. It has sold a million by 1966, although before that the GT and fastback model had been introduced.

The car continued to progress, and by the end of the 60s had become longer by four inches, and a lot heavier than the original, much of this in response to the development of Chevrolet’s Firebird and Pontiac. It was the Corvette, however, that brought the Mustang into the road racing arena. The Mustang was so popular, especially with the young, that Ford were desperate to race it against the Corvette. However, only production two seaters were allowed to race, and to enable them to do this at least 100 two seaters had be produced by January 1965.

This was achieved with the help of Mustang fan and racer, Carol Shelby, who modified 100 of the 2+2 models into GT 350 models, in the process re-equipping them to render them more suitable for racing. The suspension, wheel and brakes were all modified, and the cars were to become the basis of many future models that are even now are much sought after.

During the early 1970s the Mustang lost its way a bit and became a bit too big and unwieldy. The original grace and elan that so attracted early admirers was lost, and it became

just another car. Part of this was due to emissions regulations, but sales dropped so much that Ford had to rethink its design strategy with the Mustang.

The Mustang II was introduced in 1974, and although it was small and vastly underpowered, it takes its place in the history of the car because it brought to a halt the drop in sales. It sold because of economy in fuel, and the 1973 OPEC fuel embargo. People were afraid that a gas guzzler would hurt their pockets, and so temporarily went for the smaller car. However, this did not last long, and 1975 brought back the V8 engine to the Mustang. However, although it had a 5 liter engine, the carburetor was too small and the catalytic converter combined with that to render it lifeless.

Then came a period of relative stability although there were a few trim changes. Fans must have seen the end coming because the late 1970s saw a slight increase in sales, rather than the drop that model now deserved. The Cobra II and King Cobra versions did little to spark a return to the glory days for the 1960s, and Ford made a last ditch attempt to rewrite the Mustang in 1979. The new Mustang was available as a coup’ or fastback with a bit more room inside than the either the original or the ill fated Mustang II.

However, the running horse had gone, and the rear lights lost their distinctive three segments: this expanded to six, while the side scallop also disappeared. It no longer resembled a Mustang! Alterations continued to be made, and the California Highway Patrol found a use for a special coupe model as a high speed pursuit vehicle. With its 157 HP V8 engine, this car was used by a number of law enforcement agent up until 1993, when Ford killed them off.

The fans were wrong, however, and development continued as the Mustang conformed with the coming of fuel injection, air bags and other essential improvements, though the original concept had completely disappeared. In 2005 Ford finally ditched the ancient Fox platform and introduced that now used for the Lincoln and the Thunderbird. The newest Mustang has reverted to some of the original features, and it is a miracle that the car has survived so long.

Nobody involved in 1962 development team would have believed that the great Ford Mustang would still be around 45 years later.

Want to keep track of your fuel economy and how much hp your mustang is putting out at the same time? Do you know how you want your Mustang programmed or would you rather someone else figure out all of the technical stuff? With the SCT Livewire you can do all of this and much more. It is the most advanced flash tuner out on the market. It comes with a preprogrammed tune for those of us that aren’t that savvy with electronics and engine stuff and it can also be custom tuned. The display on the SCT Livewire reads everything you would want to know about how your performance mustang is running. No more waiting for a custom tuned device. SCT Livewire comes with a preprogrammed tune and is capable of up to 3 custom tunes you can keep your pre-tuned files and your factory uploaded tune (this is the tune that should already be programmed on your Mustang) after you have programmed your custom tune. It comes with a preprogrammed Dyno proven tune specifically set for your Mustang. The process is as simple as pressing a button and enjoying the ride. Once you are bored with the preprogrammed tune, visit your local SCT dealer and they can load up to 3 custom tunes onto your device. There is even a tune that you can use to Maximize Fuel Economy. SCT Livewire’s tunes are designed to increase your Mustang’s horsepower and Torque, also to increase throttle response so that you can get off the line quicker. The fuel economy tunes are designed to increase your fuel economy by 1-2 mpg with conservative driving. The average hp gain is 11 hp for the 05-08 4.0L Mustang with the V6 engine, and 17 hp for the 05-08 4.6L Mustang GT’s. As far as for the torque increase it is 22ft-lbs for 4.0L and 30ft-lbs for the 4.6L. If you are one of the few that have the 07+ GT500 Shelby 5.4L your gains will be much more with 57 hp and 39ft-lbs of torque. Still wanting to know what is on the SCT Livewire display screen. You can measure and read right off the screen the following: your vehicle’s hp, the torque, estimated 0-60 time, estimated ¼ mile time, your air fuel ratios, engine rpm’s, engine timing, boost if it’s turbo charged and your fuel mileage. The days of writing down your mileage at every refuel are over. It has never been easier to keep track of all this information. The screen of the SCT Livewire features large numbers that are easy to read as well. There isn’t any guess work in trying to find certain parameters.

Victor Epand asked:

So you finally have that new mustang that you have always wanted. Now you should know about the parts that you can add to it. Why you need them? What are you going to do to get them? How much are they going to be?

There are a ton of places that you can get these auto parts if you are able to look for them. If you are just looking for basic auto parts, then you will want to first check with your local auto parts store. This is the best place to look in the first place. You can also look for auto parts for your new mustang on the Internet, but this is a better route for those looking for high performance auto parts as well as those that may be racing their mustang for whatever reason.

You may need auto parts for many reasons but the most common reason is from an auto accident. This is a real reason for a change in auto parts and you may notice that these are more expensive in the beginning. The other real reason that you may need auto parts is failing while they are in use. You may not know that it is even bad until it just stops working completely.

You may be surprised by the costs that may be associated with your Mustang’s auto parts. Because it’s a new auto, you will have to pay more for them and will have to be careful with them. This is a good way to make your bills higher if you are not careful and break the auto parts that you are trying to use. You can hire a professional so that you are not dealing with this risk and that will help you with your money issues too.

There are a lot of reasons that you should be careful with your new auto parts, but costs are the main one and you need to think about what you are doing with the auto parts. You are the one that is taking care of your car as well as getting the auto parts just right with it. If you are not doing this in a responsible way, you will end up paying more for your auto repairs and your auto parts too. Take some time and fine the one that is right for what you are doing.
