Remember when we were all talking about the return of the muscle-car wars? You know, the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro, 2009 Dodge Challenger and 2010 Ford Mustang locked in a V8-powered, testosterone-saturated, mustache-stroking, smack-talking, bitch-slappin’, patch-laying death match? That was great. Good times. Way better than the housing/financial/automotive apocalypse that’s now upon us.
Well, put your troubles behind you, brother, because the new Camaro and the updated Mustang are just around the corner and the Challenger is waiting for them. We’re going to party like it’s 1929! Or 1969. Or, whatever.

Ohh totally, I really believe Ford could make a car that would compete with the ZR1, they just really need to focus. The GT500 was a mistake in my opinion, however the 2010 GT500 is supposed to have MAJOR improvements. I don’t really care about a car that handles, if I wanted a track car, I’d buy a 350Z or a S2000. Everyone thinks the Ford GT was made to compete with the corvette, it was not. It was simply a collector car made for the 100 years that ford has been in business.
I think Ford has done well with the 2010 Mustang, from what I’ve read and seen. I think it has a good chance against the Camaro, and even the Challenger. I am still mad about the 315HP though, but I hear they’re bringing back the beast 5.0L, that might just save the Mustang from its own embarrassment. Yes, Corvettes used to have HORRIBLE susp, and even really bad transmissions, but they did a lot of research and fixed it to make it superb. Ford needs to work on the Mustang even more.
i know the mustang is not a turning car…..but wouldnt be nice if it was? i dont know if you recall this but, the corvette had one of the worse suspentions ever, it was so bad, that, it was actually issued in many magazines as a bad buy……but if you see the corvette now, just look at the Zr1….dont you think its come along way? $110k for that level of performance…super car league…..dont you think ford can revive the musatng that way? i love the 68 boss…or the 289 fastback…..

I was proving you right, but if the 2010 Mustang has an IRS, lighter chassis and a 5.0L (A real 5.0 not a 4.9 wannabe 5.0) it will out compete a 350Z any day. The 350Z is a track car, not a drag car. Mustangs are meant for straight line racing. Not turning.
I have a 06′ GT, and i have no complaints about the live rear axle, it handles wells at corners, i personally raced with a Z’ don’t know if it was M/T or A/T but he did not catch me at all he stayed like a car behind me and STI’s not even close. I will never change my stang for an import.
4200lb, live axle, bad handling, bad traction…….see my point? a 350z v6 and almost 3800lb can out run and out handle a v8 gt….why? does that make sense to you? and they are both similar in price around $28 $30….so why the gap? dont you think its time to make the pony a real performer? look at the corvette…its come along way…but its in the elite….havent u heard mustang lovers complain about the rear end? why havent ford change that? suspention? traction? reliability? you tell me?

Oh ok I apologise then. The corvette is a purpose built performance car that cost “almost” twice as much as a standard gt. It doesnt fall into the same class as the mustang. Number one, the mustang is a true everyday car with 4 person capacity and a pretty spacious trunk. The main reason it accelerates harder is b/c of the weight it has b/c of the extra seating and its pony car design. As for the nissan GtR its got 4 wheel drive!! Of course its going to 0-60 better in stock trim! Thats obvious

look….i have freaking respect for the old muscle cars….i would trade my civic for 1970 hemi cuda…or a 68 chevelle ss…but times have change dude….just look at the corvette…it has become a true super car…its keeping up wit times, and ford? tell me, the super snake KR with an optional 725hp, can only do 4.1 secs to 60mph? does that sound like performance to you? a GTR can do 3.2 to 60mph with only 480hp!!!! see my point, the z06 can do it in 3.4 secs…why cant ford? why?

Ford didn’t go to Washington to help anyone but themselves. They declined the money at this point in time because they don’t need it, and may not need it, but, they are asking to be considered for a future bailout if things don’t pick up. They won’t take the money until they truly need it. They are in better shape than their counterparts because they saw this coming some time ago and made changes to prevent their own collapse, but they can’t hold off long without a big change in the market.
You are a moron. The suspension on this car gets the job done, and does so affordably. If it didn’t, then this car wouldn’t have outsold every other stinking car in the freaking world! Mustangs sold over 1 million units it’s first year, and NO other car can say that! Mustangs are pony cars, and, arguably, muscle cars.

What truck did the mustang’s suspention come from? I certainly don’t remember any ford trucks having this suspention. And how is it the same suspention that was used in a 1965 mustang? Similar is design maybe but certainly not the same. The category the mustang falls into is the same one it started in 1965 ponycar.
