ya i agree with that, but what i was trying to say was that there are people out there who have resorted back to driving their trucks and suvs since the prices dropped, so the demand for fuel efficient vehicles has slightly decreased. but if they just continue to research fuel efficiency, then in the long run they will be much better off, because the gas prices wont stay low forever.
Oh I see what your saying now, however you’re wrong in thinking that now the prices are back down we should stop trying to be efficient. At our rate of consumption we will be out of gas producing oil by about 2045 gas/diesel is not unlimited.

but the u.s. automakers spent loads of money trying to make their cars more fuel efficient due to high prices, but then prices dropped to the point where you dont need super fuel efficient cars anymore. so the need for high gas mileage cars dropped before u.s. automakers were able to finish researching and developing more fuel efficient cars while prices were high.
am I to understand that you’re saying that gas prices are coming back down due to the automakers becoming more fuel efficient?

all right sorry i misunderstood that…but the rumor going around that u.s. cars do get bad gas mileage has caused people to think imports are what to get if you want mpgs. yes imports do have cars that get more mpgs, but the average foreign “fuel saver” does about what several american cars can do. and the high prices lead u.s. automakers to research into fuel efficiency…but then the prices sharply dropped, so they spent tons of money researching fuel efficiency for low gas prices.
yea the rx8 is a ***** car but if you ever encounter a 3 rotor rx7 it will put you in your place
