Tyler M asked:

I have a ‘99 Mustang convertible, and the house we’re moving into has no garage. Will I be able to park it outside during the winter? We only get snow 5-7 times per winter here, and as long as there’s not snow or ice on the roads, I drive the car daily.
My main concern in the top - is that material made to withstand snow and ice? Will it damage it?

A 99 original top may be getting to the end of its service life.
I park my Miata outside during the winter, and it may have shortened the life if the top, but if I do the work it only costs me the price of the top, which is a lot lower then the cost of building a garage.

Sure you can. It’s not great on the top, but it should withstand the ice and snow. If you get a big build up of ice or snow, be sure to get it off, or else it may stretch the fabric a little.

Good luck.

Yes you can park it outside in the snow. They sell a lot of verts in the northern parts of the country and I see them daily even when its snowing. Personally I think that the tops get dirty much faster if driven in the winter because of the increase in road grime. Just wash your car regularly as you would in the summer and you should be alright.

NO! You will need to take it inside the house and put a blanket over it to keep it warm. Get real. That top will last you for 15-20 yrs if you take care of it, even in the foulest weather. I have seen tops on ’65’s that have never been replaced.

Personally, If I were forced to leave a car I cared about outside for the duration of winter, I would invest in a good quality outdoor car cover. It will protect the top and paint from undue wear while it’s “sleeping”.
